Last Friday, April 21, we celebrated the 20 year anniversary of The Ritz Carlton, San Juan with amazing people. I was totally IN LOVE with my dress and headpiece by D'Royal Bride, I truly felt like a Queen.
We consulted with the beautiful Andrea Damaris Santiago from D'Royal Bride and she shared with us some tips on how to dress for a Gala?
You’ve probably Heard about the different types of dress codes for events. This gala dress code was the Black-tie. This is a dress code for social functions that start after 6 p.m. Is the most formal and glamorous dress code you’ll probably face when it comes to wedding or galas.
For this type of dress code you should opt for a long gown, that matches your personality, with the style you want to show off that night, it could be classic, glamorous, vintage or modern. In occasions they request an specific color if they don’t rich an dark colors like black, charcoal, burgundy or navy, also one that doesn’t show too much skin or look too flashy are the best. Remember that men should be in tuxedos, so be sure you measure up.
If you choose a black dress or a plain dress, then your accesories can make a statement. Choose bright accesories, play with them but never too much, there are bright necklaces, headpeace, long earrings, lots of bracelets, but never use them all in the same outfit.
If your dress is big but simple and stunning that talks thru itself, then you should consider try some shiny jewelry like some drop earrings with a bright bracelet, and to make a statement use a bright and beautiful headpiece. Avoid platform shoes, this is the quickest way to make an outfit look cheap. You can try some strappy or pump heels and a clutch purse. And finally your makeup should be classic, emphasizing on either eyes or lips, never on both.
